Field Day, Calf Rearing Essentials, Te Awamutu, Waikato

SKU: N/A Categories: ,

Have you been calf rearing for years and think you know everything?
Or are you just starting out and want to know the tricks of the trade?

We are visiting Lindy and Michael Bennett’s farm for this field day where we will find out how they successfully rear 120 mainly Jersey calves in spring; view their calf rearing facility; and hear about their system, feeding process, and how they troubleshoot any issues.

Best start for calves

Emma Cuttance, EpiVets, will talk about the latest calf health and welfare research findings, and how to achieve better outcomes for your calves. She will cover the importance of “gold” colostrum and how to ensure your newborn calves get enough good quality colostrum.

Calf health – preventing and managing disease

Jane McDermott, Vetent, will outline what you can do to keep your calves in good health, how to monitor their health, first aid for your calves, and how to manage any disease issues. For example, what to do if you have an issue with scours, how to identify what your problem is, prevent it from spreading, and then the steps you can take to restore your calves to full health.
