Description

Let’s go walkabout – bananas, undersowing, and more

Graeme has planted some trial bananas – a novel forage which could also provide an excellent use for his effluent. Grant Rennie, AgResearch, is conducting research on this option, we will find out what they are investigating. His farm also borders the Opouteke River and he is vitally interested in mitigating his farm’s impact on this through riparian planting. Also, he undersows with Italian ryegrass every year, we will find out why.

No bull

All AI, sexed semen, beef breeds? Are you considering a different style of mating plan? Jair Mandriaza, LIC, will go through the strategies you can use to maximise the benefits from your mating policy, their pros and cons, how they work together, and the considerations when putting them in place on your farm.

Effluent WOF

Graeme has a new effluent system with a weeping wall. How can you best futureproof your own effluent system in a cost effective way? Do you know if your current system is up to scratch? The Effluent WOF program will analyse your system and highlight any risk areas. Murray McEwan, McEwan Ag-Nutrients, will take us through what you should be thinking about and how you can get the best results.
