Spotlight on the System – Reporoa, September 26th

SKU: N/A Categories: ,

Our host, Alastair Neville, will take us through the varied aspects of his farming operation. We are going to focus on winter milking, where a panel of farmers will talk about their experiences making the switch, and cropping, where Ian Williams from Pioneer will contribute an expert opinion on optimising the returns from your crops.

Winter milk – is it worth the switch?

Alastair will share his reasons for making the switch to winter milking. How did he transition? What were the challenges? How has he benefitted?

A panel of other farmers who have also made the change will talk about what they have learned too. If winter milking interests you then this is your chance to learn from their combined experiences!

Cropping – fitting the puzzle together

Alastair incorporates a number of different crops into his farm system, including: maize, sugarbeet and brassicas. We will investigate the reasons he selects particular crops, how they fit into his system, and the pros and cons of each crop.

Ian Williams, Pioneer, will talk about how to prepare for, and grow, a first-class maize crop. He will also touch on fitting crops into your particular system and what to feed when.
