Variable milking – the ins and outs
The Hislops use OAD as one of their management tools. Paul Edwards, DairyNZ, will outline some of the practicalities of OAD and alternative variable milking options. He will also talk about the latest research on 3in2 milking at different stages of lactation and the effect of different 3in2 milking times at peak lactation. This information will help you to identify the options that will best suit your business and make the switch successfully.
Supplement feeding this summer
There are multiple factors to consider to get the best results from your feed selections. Megan Hardy, NRM, will talk about the values and merits of different feeds, when and how to feed them, forages versus concentrates, what drives profit from these feeds, and determining how much you can afford to pay.
Effluent – fit for purpose
Are you wondering if your effluent system needs upgrading? The Hislops have put in a new system with a Flexi Tank. They will talk about the process they followed to identify a system that would work on their farm, how they ensured it would be compliant and futureproof, and where they got advice to help them to develop an effective solution.
